Purchased by the donor from the Quay Gallery, January 21, 1977; (according to letter to TKS from Mrs. Wattis, "In my dim memory I remember choosing it from a show at the Oakland Museum. They may have requested that I allow them to put it in the gallery show. Rena Bransten had just opened that gallery"). [n.b.
